Instead of asking everyone the same fixed list of questions, Hello uses an adaptive questionnaire. Our patent-pending SmartMatch system adjusts as you go, based on what you share.

That means we focus on what actually matters to you and skip what does not. This lets us build a fuller picture of your values, lifestyle, and preferences in less time. We also recognize the role of physical attraction and are not afraid to ask the questions other apps avoid.

The result is fewer matches, but far more relevant ones, with no time wasted on random profiles. So whether you are looking for lasting love, a fun fling, or something in between, Hello connects you with people you are genuinely attracted to who also align with your lifestyle, interests, and core beliefs.

• Full matching functionality is free. You can see all of your likes and matches, start conversations, and message without limits. At some point we might offer optional add-ons, but we do not charge for anything that affects your ability to access and communicate with all of your matches.
• An adaptive questionnaire. Our intake questions adjust as you answer, so we can focus on what matters to you and skip what doesn’t. This proprietary, patent pending system allows us to get to know you on a much deeper level and match you in ways that other mainstream apps can’t.
• Fewer, better matches. Hello prioritizes relevance over volume, so you’re not swiping through endless random profiles. You’ll see fewer matches, but they’ll be the right ones.
• Meaningful preferences included. We ask about values, politics, religion and other factors that can dramatically affect compatibility. If nuance in a value or belief system is important to you, we ask about it and match you accordingly.
• No hidden match paywalls. Matches and messaging are never locked behind upgrades.
• No pay-for-play visibility. People can’t buy their way into your match deck. If someone appears there, it’s because Hello matched you based on compatibility, not because they paid for extra exposure. In the future, we may offer optional features that let someone be seen sooner (our version of a boost), but only within decks where there is already a real, transparent match.

Hello recognizes that compatibility isn’t one-size-fits-all. For some people, shared ground matters deeply. For example, strong political views or a deep connection to faith can be dealbreakers if they’re not aligned. For others, those same areas may be less central, and differences can even be a positive.

That’s why Hello’s SmartMatch system looks beyond simple overlap. Our adaptive questionnaire helps us understand not just what you care about, but how much you care. We draw on established compatibility research to identify where alignment is essential, where differences can work, and where complementary traits can strengthen a connection. The result is matching that reflects your personal priorities, not a generic definition of compatibility.

The Hello Feed is a private social feed exclusively for Hello members. You can share and discover posts from across Hello, or set simple preferences to see more of the people you are most interested in. It adds a light, low-pressure social layer where you can get a better sense of people beyond their profiles, spark curiosity, and make your Hello experience more engaging.

Participation is always optional, and what you do in the Hello Feed never affects your matches.

No, Hello doesn’t use AI for matching. AI-driven conversations can be inconsistent and sometimes veer off topic, and that’s not something we’re comfortable relying on to deliver the best matching experience.

Hello’s SmartMatch adaptive intake questionnaire was designed by humans, with input from professionals across fields like psychology, religion, and politics. Everyone starts with the same questionnaire framework, but no two paths are exactly alike. As you answer, the questions adjust and follow different branches based on what you share. The experience is highly personalized, but the structure itself is consistent and entirely human-designed.

Hello does use AI in small, supportive ways. It helps with things like compatibility summaries, profile safety checks, and content moderation. AI is there to enhance the experience, but the matching itself is one hundred percent human designed logic.

Yes. Hello offers full matching functionality at no cost. You can complete your profile, see all of your matches and likes, start conversations, and message without limits. Optional paid add-ons or an ad-supported experience may come later, but they will not be required to match or connect. The matching features other apps reserve for premium plans are standard in Hello.

This approach is almost unheard of in dating apps today. Most platforms ask you to invest time in your profile, then restrict access so they can sell it back to you through subscriptions.

Hello is built on a different model. We are betting on participation, not pressure. By making real matching accessible to everyone, we believe more people will use the app and help build a stronger community over time.

In return, we ask one thing: complete your full profile. Great matches depend on real information, and it would not be fair to people who invest the time to do it properly if others do not. Full profiles are the only way we can deliver on our promise of better matches for everyone.

Hello was founded on a simple belief: if we build a free, no-gimmicks dating app that genuinely works, people will use it. To that end, our focus is on building the best dating app possible, and making it accessible to everyone.

You might be wondering how we’re going to stay in business. As our community expands nationally, Hello becomes sustainable through a thoughtfully designed, ad-supported free experience, with an optional upgrade for users who prefer an ad-free version. We may incorporate fun add-ons (think “likes” or roses), but we’ll never charge for anything that would impair your ability to connect with your matches. Our business model is built around transparency, scale, and delivering real value, not forcing upgrades through artificial limitations.

Put simply, most dating apps today are built to make money first and deliver second. Hello is doing it the other way around. We believe that if we build something that truly works for people, the business will follow over time. It is a bet on trust, quality, and community, and one we believe is worth making.

Lastly, bring us your creativity. We’re brainstorming ideas for optional paid add-ons that won’t impede matching functionality. For example, we might charge a small fee for you to send a like or a super like, but we’ll never charge you to message someone or to see who sent you likes.
